Basketball Game Preview: Chesapeake Cougars vs. Old Mill Patriots

Chesapeake hasn't had much luck against Old Mill recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chesapeake Cougars will face off against the Old Mill Patriots.

Chesapeake is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against South River, falling 73-48. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Seahawks are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Old Mill came out on top against Severna Park on Friday by a score of 64-63 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Old Mill is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Chesapeake, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.

Things could have been worse for Chesapeake, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to Old Mill in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Chesapeake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
