Volleyball Recap: Howland Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Howland and Archbishop Hoban squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Howland had to settle for second. They came up short against the Knights, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Howland was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 12 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-12.

Maya Kubancsek paced Howland's offense, picking up ten kills. Kubancsek got some help from Talia Rishel and her 14 assists.

With the loss, Howland broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 15-10. As for Archbishop Hoban, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Howland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archbishop Hoban, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Highland on the 30th.
