Football Game Preview: Lacey Township Lions vs. Lakewood Piners

The Lacey Township Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Lakewood Piners at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lacey Township hasn't scored more than ten points for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Lacey Township lost 28-6 to Freehold Township on Friday.

Joey Davis put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 98 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries.

Meanwhile, Lakewood fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Keansburg on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and the Titans were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 43-42 loss. The Piners were up 24-7 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Lacey Township's record now sits at 2-6. As for Lakewood, their record is now an identical 2-6.

Lacey Township won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2018, slipping by Lakewood 21-20. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Piners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
