Basketball Game Preview: Legal Prep vs. Little Village Phoenix

Legal Prep will take on the Little Village Phoenix at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-23, which was the final score in Legal Prep's tilt against Collins last Wednesday. Legal Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Little Village didn't have too much trouble with Bogan on Saturday as they won 63-48. Given the Phoenix's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Bengals are ranked 563rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Little Village found their leader in sophomore Dion Boyd Jr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Boyd Jr a new career-high in assists (eight). Another player making a difference was Tyshawn Miller, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Little Village smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Legal Prep now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Little Village, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.

Legal Prep came up short against Little Village when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 90-77. Can Legal Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
