Basketball Recap: John Hancock Academy Takes a Loss

John Hancock Academy played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers 62-33. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-30 last Tuesday.

Briarwood Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mekhi Elam out in front who went 7 of 10 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Carson Callaway, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for John Hancock Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-14. As for Briarwood Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

John Hancock Academy has already played their next matchup (against Twiggs Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Briarwood Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-34 loss against Augusta Prep Day on the 20th.
