Basketball Game Preview: Concord Minutemen vs. Elkhart Lions

The Concord Minutemen will take on the Elkhart Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhart took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Concord, who comes in off a win.

Concord is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Bethany Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Concord blew Bethany Christian out of the water with a 53-21 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Minutemen had established a 31 point advantage.

Shelby Emerick had an outrageously good game as she went 6 for 13 en route to 19 points. What's more, she also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hayden Casey, who posted two points in addition to five assists, five rebounds, and four steals.

Concord was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Elkhart was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 39-33 to Tippecanoe Valley.

Concord has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Elkhart, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Concord was taken down by Elkhart 57-28 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can Concord avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
