Baseball Recap: Scituate Victorious

Juanita Sanchez Complex typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Scituate proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 8-5. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Jackson Scanlon made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Scituate is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Scanlon was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Travis Howman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler North, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

Scituate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juanita Sanchez Complex only managed five hits.

Scituate's record is now 10-7. As for Juanita Sanchez Complex, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
