Recap: Heartland Mustangs vs. Plaza Heights Christian Academy

The Heartland Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Plaza Heights Christian Academy 24-21. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Heartland also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Esther Archibald was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Heartland's points.

Despite the defeat, Plaza Heights Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Sydney Berry scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Berry hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games.

Heartland has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Heartland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Plaza Heights Christian Academy is on the road again on Saturday and plays Clinton Christian Academy at 10:30 a.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Plaza Heights Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
