Basketball Recap: Greenwood Eagles vs. Berea Bulldogs
In what's become a running theme this season, the Greenwood Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They really took it to Berea for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-23 win at home. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Greenwood found their leader in underclassman Danielle Oliver, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Greenwood and bumps their season record up to 19-4. As for Berea, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenwood will play host again and welcome the Red Raiders, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kayla Gaston and Oliver. As for Berea, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
