Softball Recap: Highland Takes a Loss

Highland blew O'Fallon out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday O'Fallon got their revenge. The Highland Bulldogs fell just short of the O'Fallon Panthers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since April 2, 2024.

Kaitlyn Wilson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Holly Sexton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Becker, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Highland will welcome Freeburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for O'Fallon, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-7 loss against Granite City on the 20th.
