Preview: Sycamore Spartans vs. DeKalb Barbs
Sycamore is 10-0 against DeKalb since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sycamore Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the DeKalb Barbs at 6:00 p.m. Sycamore will be strutting in after a win while DeKalb will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, Sycamore didn't have too much trouble with Morris at home as they won 57-40. Given Sycamore's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Morris is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, DeKalb's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 53-36 bruising from Naperville North.
Sycamore's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for DeKalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Everything came up roses for Sycamore against DeKalb when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 55-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sycamore since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
