Basketball Recap: Khabir Washington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Philadelphia over Imhotep Charter

West Philadelphia lost against Imhotep Charter back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The West Philadelphia Speedboys received a blow as they fell 76-60 to the Imhotep Charter Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Speedboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Panthers are ranked 11th).

West Philadelphia lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Khabir Washington, who posted 17 points and eight assists. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makel Butts, who scored 17 points.

West Philadelphia's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Imhotep Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

West Philadelphia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Imhotep Charter, they will square off against Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech comes in on five and Imhotep Charter on eight.
