Baseball Recap: Dakota Ridge Triumphs

Dakota Ridge won against Pomona last Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Eagles walked away with an 8-4 win over the Green Mountain Rams. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Jo Jo Calderon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sam Wieber was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Dakota Ridge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Barrett, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Dakota Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Green Mountain, they moved to 9-4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Dakota Ridge and Green Mountain will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to challenge their familiar foe Evergreen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Green Mountain will face off against rival D'Evelyn at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
