Basketball Game Preview: Zuni Thunderbirds vs. Rehoboth Christian Lynx

Zuni hasn't had much luck against Rehoboth Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Zuni Thunderbirds will take on the Rehoboth Christian Lynx at 6:30 p.m. Zuni will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Zuni will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Bloomfield, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. Zuni secured a 55-49 W over Bloomfield on Friday. While the Thunderbirds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Zuni's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty'Shawn Nieto, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Nieto is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deron Lastyano, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Rehoboth Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Legacy Academy on Monday and fell 53-50.

Zuni has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Rehoboth Christian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Zuni was taken down by Rehoboth Christian 65-33 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Zuni avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
