Soccer Game Preview: Redington vs. Monroe Catholic

The Redington Huskies will venture away from home to take on the Monroe Catholic Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Redington is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Redington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: North Pole, who was ranked 20th at the time (Redington was ranked 21st). The Huskies walked away with a 3-1 win over the Patriots on Friday.

Meanwhile, Monroe Catholic's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against North Pole by a score of 3-1. The victory continues a trend for Monroe Catholic in their matchups with North Pole: they've now won three in a row.

Chloe Maring and Calli Bundschuh scored all three of Monroe Catholic's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Monroe Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Redington, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Redington skirted past Monroe Catholic 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
