Baseball Recap: Chatham Panthers vs. Ballston Spa Scotties

It was a good run, but Chatham unfortunately witnessed the end of their 19-game winning streak dating back to last season on Monday. They fell just short of the Ballston Spa Scotties by a score of 9-7. Chatham was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ballston Spa apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Tate Van Alstyne put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. Van Alstyne has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Van Alstyne was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Van Alstyne wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Carroll, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Chatham fell to 12-1. As for Ballston Spa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
