Basketball Recap: Normal West Takes a Loss

Normal West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Normal University Pioneers on the road by a 62-44 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 51-49 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Normal West still got an impressive performance from Maliq Givens-Smith, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points and eight boards. Chase Sennett was another key player, putting up ten points.

Normal West's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Normal University, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coincidentally, Normal West and Normal University will both be playing Bloomington Central Catholic the next time they take the court. The Pioneers will head out to face the Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
