Preview: Seward Park Bears vs. Pace
Seward Park has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against Pace at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Seward Park's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Last Wednesday, Seward Park didn't have too much trouble with the Tigers at home as they won 70-54. Given Seward Park's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Tigers are ranked 610th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pace won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune two weeks ago. They were the victim of a tough 53-32 defeat at the hands of Beacon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pace has scored all season.
Seward Park is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Pace, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Everything came up roses for Seward Park against the in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 77-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seward Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
