Football Recap: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. North Mac Panthers
Southwestern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 49-34 fall against the North Mac Panthers. Even if the Piasa Birds couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.
Southwestern lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jerion Holoman, who rushed for 89 yards and two scores on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Robinson, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Even if they lost, Southwestern's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. CJ Ely was especially locked on to North Mac's QB and sacked him twice. Ely is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season.
North Mac had a senior duo take command as Kadin Casey gained 161 total yards and a touchdown and Kevin Bricker picked up 164 receiving yards and one touchdown. Casey's longest reception was for an incredible 94 yards.
Southwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for North Mac, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Looking ahead, Southwestern will take on Vandalia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Piasa Birds will need to watch out since the Vandals have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for North Mac, they will face off against Litchfield/Mt. Olive at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
