Basketball Recap: Hearne Takes Down Sabine Pass in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Hearne had no trouble coming through when it counted. They breezed past the Sabine Pass Sharks to the tune of 62-29 on Tuesday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Cristian Robinson, who posted 22 points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Dereion Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 boards.

Hearne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Sabine Pass lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Don Fowler, who put up four points and five rebounds. DeMarcus Brannon was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Hearne is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points over those games. As for Sabine Pass, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-16 record this season.

Coming up, Hearne will welcome Flatonia at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Flatonia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Sabine Pass does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
