Preview: South Nodaway Longhorns vs. Worth County/Northeast Nodaway Tigers

The South Nodaway Longhorns are on the road again on Friday and play against the Worth County/Northeast Nodaway Tigers. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Nodaway had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-8 victory over King City. Given South Nodaway's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while King City is ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Worth County/Northeast Nodaway waltzed into Friday's game with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They blew past Pattonsburg, posting a 64-14 win on the road.

Tyler New continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 240 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 123 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. New's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Worth County/Northeast Nodaway also got a significant boost from Landon Wilmes, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.

Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 9-1.

South Nodaway didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Worth County/Northeast Nodaway in their previous matchup back in August, but they still walked away with a 38-34 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Worth County/Northeast Nodaway's New, who rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will South Nodaway still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
