Recap: Blanco Panthers vs. Richland Springs Coyotes
After flying high against the Luling Eagles on Friday, the Blanco Panthers came back down to earth. Blanco took a hard 60-43 fall against Richland Springs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Blanco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 876th, while Richland Springs is ranked 147th).
Blanco lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Candice Lopez, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Lopez continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mina Broyles, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Blanco's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Richland Springs, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blanco will face off against Marble Falls at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marble Falls has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 10. Richland Springs will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cornerstone Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
