Football Recap: Cypress Lakes Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Spring last Thursday, Cypress Lakes came back down to earth. The Spartans fell 31-22 to the Benjamin Davis Falcons on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 31-17 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Cypress Lakes still got an impressive performance from Jimmy Alarcon, who threw for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 76 yards and one score. 104 of Alarcon's passing yards were hauled in by Cj Lewis.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benjamin Davis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darrell Haynes, who threw for 240 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 48 yards and one score. David Richardson was another key player, picking up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Cypress Lakes now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Benjamin Davis, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Cypress Lakes has already played their next contest, a 57-0 win against Cypress Park on the 19th. As for Benjamin Davis, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
