Softball Recap: Gulf Shores Has No Trouble Against Elmore County

Gulf Shores got themselves on the board against Elmore County on Saturday, but Elmore County never followed suit. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over the Elmore County Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Anna Leigh Price made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Price was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kayleigh Jacks and Neaveh James did most of the damage at the plate: Jacks scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while James scored a run while going 2-for-3. Maddie Beshears also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Gulf Shores is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Elmore County fell to 2-1.

Coming up, Gulf Shores will challenge Baldwin County at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elmore County, they will head out on the road to take on Marbury at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
