Football Recap: Barbe Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Barbe lost against Southside back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buccaneers fell 39-28 to the Sharks. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Sharks are ranked 27th).

Despite the loss, Barbe still got an impressive performance from Jelandon Gray, who rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 123 yards and one TD. Gray's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Parker Dies went supernova For Southside., rushing for 155 yards and one score on only nine carries, while also throwing for 79 yards and one TD. Kollin Francois was Dies' top target, picking up zero receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Barbe and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Southside, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Barbe will venture away from home to square off against Acadiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Southside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sam Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sharks will be up against the Broncos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
