Baseball Recap: St. Dominic Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

St. Dominic was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Father Tolton. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly four runs.

Trey Peroutka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Daniel Henke, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolt Hopper, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

St. Dominic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Father Tolton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-5-1.

St. Dominic and Father Tolton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Crusaders (ranked 29th) will meet Hazelwood West (ranked 234th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Father Tolton will square off against Battle at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (32 vs. 203).
