Softball Game Preview: East Lee County Jaguars vs. Everglades City Gators

The East Lee County Jaguars will face off against the Everglades City Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

East Lee County came up short against Cape Coral on Tuesday, falling 22-7.

Sophia Meixsell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Savannah Negron was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Everglades City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-6 to Seacrest Country Day.

Ava Ramos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda O'Connell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

East Lee County's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Everglades City, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Lee County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Everglades City struggles in that department as they've averaged .526. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
