Baseball Recap: Belton-Honea Path Takes a Loss

Belton-Honea Path was the 5-4 winner over Pendleton when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. Belton-Honea Path fell just short of Pendleton by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jud Lowie was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Belton-Honea Path saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Boyd Maynard, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Maynard's first of the season.

Belton-Honea Path's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Pendleton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belton-Honea Path will face off against Palmetto at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pendleton, they will take on Walhalla at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
