Baseball Recap: New Brockton Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times New Brockton and Opp had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. New Brockton took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Opp on Friday. The Gamecocks have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Griffin Wood was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, New Brockton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Adkison, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. That RBI was Adkison's first of the season.

New Brockton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Opp, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

While New Brockton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
