Basketball Recap: Westfield Shamrocks vs. Hamilton Southeastern Royals

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Westfield Shamrocks can now relate to. They had to suffer through a rough 52-21 loss at the hands of the Royals. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westfield has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Westfield lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Lindsey Van dyke. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with two steals. Van dyke is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Westfield has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-3.

Westfield is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Hamilton Southeastern is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Shamrocks in Indiana (the Royals are ranked third, while the Shamrocks are ranked 39th). As for Hamilton Southeastern, they will square off against the Shamrocks at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Westfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
