It was a good run, but the Horace Mann UCLA Community Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 72-71 to Hawthorne Math & Science Academy. Horace Mann UCLA Community was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hawthorne Math & Science Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Hawthorne Math & Science Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Roland Essah out in front who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Essah has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Essah, who scored 20 points.
Horace Mann UCLA Community's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Horace Mann UCLA Community will head out on the road to take on New West Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they will be playing at home against Lennox Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lennox Academy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
