Preview: West Side Roughriders vs. Seton Hall Prep Pirates
West Side is 1-9 against the Pirates since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The West Side Roughriders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seton Hall Prep Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Seton Hall Prep took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Side, who comes in off a win.
Last Monday, West Side strolled past the with points to spare, taking the game 71-53.
Meanwhile, Seton Hall Prep was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 51-45 to the Jaguars. While losing is never fun, Seton Hall Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Jaguars are ranked 29th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gino Romano, who scored nine points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ante, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
West Side is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. As for Seton Hall Prep, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10.
West Side took a serious blow against the Pirates in their previous matchup back in January, falling 68-31. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Side was down 39-14.
