Basketball Recap: Leggett Pirates vs. Chester Yellowjackets
After flying high against High Island last Thursday, Leggett came back down to earth. The Leggett Pirates fell 37-30 to the Chester Yellowjackets on Friday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Leggett lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Na'Ilah Jordan, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Tamera Henderson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Chester found their leader in sophomore Ty Cochran, who had eight points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, Cochran is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Citrano, who put up six points and six boards.
Leggett now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Chester, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Leggett has already played their next game, a 33-29 victory against Hull-Daisetta on the 28th. As for Chester, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 84-29 defeat against Brookeland on the 28th.
