2A District 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Florida Air Academy moved up to 312 from 374 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 3. The Falcons were able to make the jump by beating Father Lopez 62-42.
Florida Air Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, John Kraynik's team defeated the Green Wave 62-42.
Father Lopez's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Boden threw for 148 and one touchdown and Justin Bryant had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Boden chipped in 190 yards. Ryan Mowan helped Father Lopez's passing attack out by catching two balls for 26 yards.
Nick Eastman made the biggest impact on defense this week as Jason Dunlap's team fell to the Falcons. The freshman forced one fumble.
The Green Wave's Boden and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Boden has thrown for 540 yards this season, while Bryant has nine catches for 161 yards. Quandre Woods from St. John Lutheran leads the league in rushing with 763 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 3 this week will be when St. Edward's takes on Calvary Christian. At the moment, the Pirates are in seventh, while the Lions are in sixth.
