Preview: Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors vs. Wallkill Panthers
The Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Wallkill Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Our Lady of Lourdes is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, everything went Our Lady of Lourdes' way against Saugerties as Our Lady of Lourdes made off with a 67-47 victory. Given Our Lady of Lourdes' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Saugerties is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wallkill was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Valley Central 65-36 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wallkill.
Among those leading the charge was Sam Dembinsky, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zoe Mesuch, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Our Lady of Lourdes' victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.56 points. As for Wallkill, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Our Lady of Lourdes was able to grind out a solid victory over Wallkill when the teams last played back in February, winning 68-58. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Wallkill's Emma Spindler, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
