Baseball Recap: Zephyrhills Christian Academy Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grace Christian, Zephyrhills Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 19-8 margin over the Real Life Christian Academy Raptors. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raptors, too.

Gunner Bingham and Will Rives made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Bingham tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rives struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. At bat, Bingham went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Rives went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The dominant performance gave Bingham a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sergio Garcia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Malachi Hairston was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.

Zephyrhills Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Real Life Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Zephyrhills Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Tenoroc at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Real Life Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against All Saints' Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
