After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Ocean Springs, Greene County was happy to have turned things around  on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the East Central Hornets  6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Wildcats have posted  since April 20, 2024.
 Addie Tungett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. What's more,  she gave up only zero  walks, the fewest she's  had since back in April of 2024.
 On the hitting side,  Zamiah Knight was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-3. What's more,  she posted three  hits, the most she's  had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Shanna Johnson, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-4.
The  victory snapped Greene County's losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for East Central, their defeat  ended  a  six-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 6-4.
 Looking ahead,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as  the Wildcats  take on  the Panthers at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for East Central, they will face off against Laurel at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
