Softball Recap: Owen J. Roberts' Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Owen J. Roberts dropped their record down to 12-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Avon Grove Red Devils by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Wildcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Maddie Reed spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

As for Avon Grove, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games.

On Avon Grove's side, not much got past Elle Burns, who gave up just eight hits to keep Owen J. Roberts off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michaela Sycalik, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Beltran, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
