Baseball Recap: Smith County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Smith County put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Macon County Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 last Monday.

Cole Hackett and Bennett Gammon did most of the damage at the plate: Hackett scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Gammon scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three hits gave Hackett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Montgomery, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Smith County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Macon County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Smith County will welcome Gordonsville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Macon County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Springfield at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Macon County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
