Baseball Recap: Standley Lake Gators vs. Steamboat Springs Sailors
Standley Lake took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Steamboat Springs Sailors, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gators have posted since April 24, 2024.
Chris Blanco was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Blanco wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Casias, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Standley Lake will have a chance to go back-to-back against Steamboat Springs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
