Baseball Recap: Big Sandy Drops Season-High Score on Fruitvale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Sandy). They put the hurt on the Fruitvale Bobcats with a sharp 20-12 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won five in a row.

Big Sandy got a massive performance out of Logan Brown, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 4-for-4. Big Sandy is 3-1 when Brown posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Orms, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Big Sandy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Big Sandy picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Fruitvale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Big Sandy will head out to challenge Yantis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Yantis has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something Big Sandy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fruitvale, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cumby at 4:30 p.m. on April 8.
