Softball Recap: University Lab Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for University Lab, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Madison Prep Academy with a sharp 12-1 win on Tuesday. The Cubs haven't had any issues with Madison Prep Academy recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Gabby Fontenot made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Fontenot was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on London Harvey, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Charlotte Lowe was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

University Lab was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

University Lab now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Madison Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University Lab will host Port Allen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Madison Prep Academy, they will be playing at home against Parkview Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
