Football Recap: Byrd Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Byrd extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evangel Christian Academy Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (35), the Yellow Jackets still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Byrd still got an impressive performance from Christian Maxie, who rushed for 272 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. Collin Deere helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

As for Evangel Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

Peyton Houston was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 225 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Evangel Christian Academy's leading receiver Charley Abraham was Houston's top target yet again, picking up 141 receiving yards and one score.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Byrd will welcome John Ehret at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Airline at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
