Preview: Niwot Cougars vs. Riverdale Ridge Ravens
Niwot has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Riverdale Ridge Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Niwot focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 on Monday.
Niwot suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They were dealt a 67-30 defeat at the hands of Mountain View. That's two games in a row now that Niwot has lost by exactly 37 points.
Despite the loss, Niwot saw an underclassman step up: Ella Zechman scored six points along with two steals. Zechman continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Riverdale Ridge can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Severance 71-39 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-14.
Niwot dropped their record down to 3-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.5 points per game. As for Riverdale Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Niwot was taken down by Riverdale Ridge 80-30 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Niwot avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
