Softball Game Preview: Southside Cardinals vs. Harlandale Indians

The Southside Cardinals will take on the Harlandale Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southside hasn't scored more than a single run for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Last Saturday, Southside came up short against MacArthur and fell 4-1.

Southside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brisa Escobar, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Harlandale posted their closest win since March 12th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Jay 7-6.

Eliana Rae DeLeon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sofia Galvan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Harlandale is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Southside, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Harlandale struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Southside took their win against Harlandale in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-0 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
