Flag Football Recap: Coconino Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

The Coconino Panthers were able to grind out a solid victory over the Lee Williams Volunteers on Thursday, taking the game 10-3.

Blanca Ventura Gomez threw for 247 yards and one touchdown. Kate Wesche was her top target, picking up 74 receiving yards and one score.

Coconino pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.0 points on average over those games. As for Lee Williams, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Coconino will challenge rival Bradshaw Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 8.2, the Bears 10.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Lee Williams is set to square off against their familiar foe Mohave at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
