Harlingen South and Flour Bluff squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Harlingen South had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 8-7. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Kailee Silva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Laila Lamb was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Harlingen South's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Flour Bluff, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Harlingen South beat Flour Bluff by a score of 7-5 on Saturday.
