Baseball Game Preview: Northlake Christian Wolverines vs. Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns

The Northlake Christian Wolverines will square off against the Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Northlake Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Metairie Park Country Day will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Northlake Christian turned things around against Holden on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rockets 3-1.

Eli Shoemake made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Northlake Christian is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-13-1 otherwise. Shoemake was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnathon Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Metairie Park Country Day came up short against St. Martin's Episcopal on Wednesday, falling 9-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Cajuns in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost three in a row.

Northlake Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-14-1. As for Metairie Park Country Day, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.

Northlake Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Metairie Park Country Day in their previous meeting back in March of 2017, winning 6-1. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Cajuns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
