Southampton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Colonial Heights Colonials by a score of 87-80. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Colonials are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colonial Heights lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cameron Hartsoe, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine boards. That was a full 36.3% of Colonial Heights' points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Cartier Coleman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Southampton's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Colonial Heights, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southampton and Appomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Colonial Heights, they are taking a road trip to challenge Meadowbrook at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Colonial Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.
