Softball Recap: Rogers Takes Down Emerald Ridge in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rogers walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Emerald Ridge Jaguars 2-1 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

Sierra Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Payton Walling was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Rogers and bumps their season record up to 19-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Emerald Ridge, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-7 record.

As of now, neither Rogers nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
